Built
in 1894 as the first deluxe hotel in Rome, the St. Regis Grand Hotel
is within walking distance of the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain
and Via Veneto. Upon reopening in mid-December 1999, after an extensive
restoration and renovation, the St. Regis Grand, Rome reclaimed
its status as the finest hotel in Rome and one of the best in the
world. This honor has been re-emphasized by recently being named
to Conde Nast Traveler's 2002 Gold List. As a focal point of Rome's
diplomatic and political life, we are proud to host many national
and international dignitaries, heads of state, business executives,
and widely known celebrities.
Enjoy
a unique dining experience at our restaurant Vivendo, the number
one restaurant in Rome nominated by Zagat, and the Gold Key award
winner for design and decor. Our private wine cellar, Di Vino, selected
to be ""depositaire de l' enotheque Dom Perignon""
invites you to private dining with regional and international menus
enhanced by a wide selection of wines to complement each course.
An English-style butler is available, on dedicated floors, to attend
to guests' requests 24-hours a day. Celebrities and diplomats are
regulars at this hotel, a Belle Époque masterpiece brimming
with crystal, frescoes, soaring ceilings, sculpted columns, and
precious antiques. The lobby is appointed with white-marble reception
and concierge desks, red-velvet throne chairs, Oriental rugs, and
a 30-foot ceiling.
Property
Amenities
The St. Regis
Grand has earned a coveted place on Travel + Leisure’s 2004
list of the 500 Greatest Hotels in the World. Dining and refreshment
choices include the highly regarded Vivendo restaurant, the opulent
Grand Hall, and Le Grand Bar, with its red-velvet banquettes.
The Caroli Health Club on the fifth floor offers a staffed, mirrored
fitness center and a wellness center with men’s and women’s
saunas and two treatment rooms with massage services. The hotel
has one of the city’s oldest operating elevators—a grand
wrought-iron affair—used to reach the health club. Wireless
Internet access is available in public areas and the staffed business
center includes two computers, printers, fax machines, and high-speed
Internet access (surcharge).
Sala Ritz, the
hotel’s vast, columned ballroom, has been richly restored,
retaining the original 1894 ceiling frescoes and Murano glass chandeliers.

Dining
Vivendo
- Voted Rome’s best restaurant by Zagat 2002 and 2003,
Vivendo serves creative Mediterranean cuisine, such as foie
gras and Bass Carpaccio with Balsamic Vinegar. The decor is
equally imaginative: grey-and-purple silk hangings, silver armchairs,
and custom-made candleholders. The wine cellar includes 520
wines, 40 of which are specially provided for the hotel. Vivendo
is open daily for lunch and dinner. The private dining room,
La Champagnerie, seats 14.
Le Grand Bar - Tucked away on one side of the
gilded Grand Hall, Le Grand Bar serves sophisticated cocktails
including the César Ritz (gin and Sambuca in a coffee-frosted
glass). The room includes a black-marble bar and red-velvet
banquettes. Guests can take afternoon tea in the bar or in the
Grand Hall, which is appointed with silk-upholstered Louis XV
furniture and the original 1894 cut-glass chandelier. A jazz
band performs Wednesday nights.
