Aloha!
I have been fortunate to be brought up and raised in a travel family. As a child of the sixties my parents often took us on at least 4 or 5 trips per year. I sailed trans Atlantic on classic cruise ships of yester year, SS United States, and the original Queen Elizabeth. We toured the islands of the Caribbean and spent multiple summers house swapping with a Bermuda Family. At the age of ten I was introduced to the world of airlines tickets, back then all tickets were handwritten and my Mom would have my brother and I fill out tickets for groups the agency was doing. At the age of sixteen while still in High school I was escorting hundreds of people at a time to ski the European Alps. I continued to to that through college and worked at the agency learning the ropes until I graduated. I joined the Travel Industry officially in 1980 and have been in it ever since! Once I started full time my travel also went full time. I would average again 5-7 trips a year .mostly on sponsored agent “fams” where we travel at discounted rates and are hosted by the different vendors, hotels or tourist organizations. I also enjoyed the logistics of airline international pricing and attended to different rate schools in Miami (Eastern Airlines) and Frankfurt with Lufthansa Airlines. I also was one of the original students of the Institute of Certified Travel Agents located in Wellesley Massachusetts. I can also claim status as a teacher of travel spending four years teaching at Northeast Travel School. My list of where I have been is quite long and a lot of memories and experiences still serve me well to this day. I have Heli-skied in the Canadian Rockies, Olympic bobsledding Innsbruck, Ballooning over the Loire Valley, Scuba dived the waters of Caribbean and Australia. New Zealand and my country of birth Ireland are probably my favorites. I love challenges and feel I can handle any destination with confidence. After 9/11 a company in Boston was looking for an experienced agent who was willing to work with the UN and the US Army getting workers into Afghanistan. I jumped at the chance and spent 3 years coordinating flights for these contractors flying between Kabul, Baghdad and other third world countries. The old New England saying of “you can’t get there from here” seemed to ring true more often than not, but I found out you can! Another fun part of this job is sharing your experiences with your clients. Having The privilege of planning someone’s trip of a lifetime is challenging, I most recently sent a couple from here in Maui on a 5 week tour of Europe, covering almost every major city and timed events such as Papal blessings in Rome, to Oktober Fest in Munich, to seeing the Queens quarters in London! Another couple I have on a 15 day cruise for South America with a pre cruise excursion to Machu Picchu in Peru and wrapping up on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro! As you can see I enjoy sharing my experiences, I enjoy listening to what your dreams are, and I enjoy making those dreams a reality! Click here to
